Aggressive Fire Ants Bite and Sting
Let Tactical Pest and Termite Solutions remove them from your Matthews property!
These red and black ants are native to South America and were accidentally introduced to the United States in the 1930s. They are notorious for building large mounds of soft soil in open areas.
Sensitive to vibration, when disturbed a fire ant will quickly and aggressively bite and sting. When one ant stings, that prompts others in the colony to follow. Young children and elderly adults, as well as small pets, can be especially sensitive to their sting, which can result in a severe reaction. In some cases, their toxic venom (Solenopsin) can be fatal.
Inside your Matthews home, fire ants would be attracted to laundry piles that may contain food residue or oils. They are drawn to dark and moist areas.
Fire ants can also nest deeply in the ground, so do not assume they are not there if out of sight.
